Happy Ground Hog Day!
Or, truth be told, if your Ground Hog Day is like the movie "Ground Hog Day", each day might seem like a pointless repeat of the day before--or the Ground Hog Day celebration of the year before, as Bill Murray's character experiences.
The Buddha might call it "bad karma." I might call it a "rut" or practicing "non-mindfulness."
It is easy to fall into the trap of one day running into the next day, all a river of grayness.
But life is lived between breaths. Each breath is a new opportunity. Each breath is a chance to experience something new. Each breath is a gift of living in this very moment.
I hope you have a very happy Ground Hog Day--you know, the one where the guys in funny top hats in Pennsylvania pull that poor ground hog out of his mid-winter slumber and hold him up for the cameras.
But I hope every day is not your very own personal "Ground Hog Day." Try a little mindfulness and see if that puts the boring little critter back in his hole where he belongs.
